The INCENTIVES program awards a supplement to early care and education professionals meeting certain educational requirements and who:
Work in a licensed child care facility or registered family day care home that meets at least one of the following requirements:

Is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA) or the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC)

Is accredited by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning as Center of Distinction or a Home of Distinction through the Standards or Care program
- Serves subsidized children (at least 25% must be subsidized by DFCS)
- Participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program
An applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Work at least 25 hours a week as a teacher/assistant teacher (40 for director/assitant director)
- Earn less than $14.45 per hour
- Have worked 12 consecutive months with current employer
- Hold an approved credential or degree in early childhood education, child development or child care administration. Two year degrees in teacher education or four year degrees in liberal or general studies with a concentration on education are not eligible.

There are two applications periods:
August 15th - October 15th
February 15th - April 15th
How Much Would I Receive if Approved?
Award levels paid twice per year if you continue to qualify are: CDA, CCP, NAC, Technical College Certificate - $200 Technical College Diploma - $375 AAS, AAT, AS, AA* - $750 BA, BS, MA, MED, MS* - $1,000
*Degrees and credentials must be in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
Who benefits from this program? In fiscal year 2006:
- 3,291 professionals received $2,575,175
- Recipients worked in 130 and lived in 147 of Georgia's 159 counties
- 90 percent of recipients worked in a licensed child care center or group child care home; 10 percent were family child care providers
