Babies Can't Wait Program

Division of Public Health Project

Facilitated by Care Solutions, Inc.

Preparing to serve an increasing population of children ages 0-3 with developmental delays presented a series of challenges to the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health Babies Can’t Wait Program in early 2007.   Babies Can’t Wait (BCW) is a federally-funded Georgia program that promotes the healthy development of young children, and assures that they arrive at school healthy and ready for success by coordinating and providing services for qualifying children.

BCW was faced with the need to change its processes effective July 1, 2007, leaving just six months to evaluate its system, make recommendations and effect change.  One part of its preparation was to gain a greater understanding of stakeholder perceptions to provide information that would assist in making system changes to increase efficiency and sustainability.

Care Solutions, Inc. was contracted to assist with this phase of the project by conducting an online stakeholder survey of parents/caregivers of children currently or formerly in the program.  Also included in the survey were BCW program staff, contracted providers and other community partners.  Among the areas surveyed were awareness, experience with BCW, perceived benefits of the program and recommendations for improving efficiency.

In response to the project’s time constraints, Care Solutions was able to work with BCW to conduct the survey in a very short time, both online and with paper versions for those who may not have had Internet access.

Stakeholder responses represented every public health district in the state.  The survey report prepared by Care Solutions formed the basis for additional stakeholder planning input by Babies Can’t Wait. Click here to download the report.
