GEORGIA LAW (O.C.G.A. Section 50-36-1) – This law requires state agencies to verify the legal status of any person ages 18 years or older who applies for public benefits. The law requires every such applicant to execute a signed and sworn affidavit verifying the applicant’s lawful presence in the United States. Effective January 1, 2011, payments for SCHOLARSHIPS, INCENTIVES and the FIRST Program can be issued only after a recipient complies with this request. Click here for Affidavit Verifying Status.
