| Chicken pox is a viral
infection most often seen in children. It is more common in the
spring and fall and usually lasts 7-10 days. It is very contagious,
although it is unusual for individuals who have had it already to
get it again. Excessive scratching of the rash and blisters caused
by chicken pox can result in infection and scarring. Chicken pox
can be serious, so it is important that all children age one and
over be immunized against it.
