Cradle cap is a scalp condition often seen in infants. It can occur in babies from a few weeks to several months of age.

Symptoms include:

  • Build up of encrusted yellow scales on the scalp, forehead, neck or behind the ears.

Treatment:

  • Apply mineral oil or petroleum jelly and wait 10-15 minutes, then shampoo with a mild soap and brush out scales.
  • Wash areas daily with mild soap or baby shampoo and brush with soft brush.
  • Contact your health care provider for a special shampoo.

Contact your health care provider if the area turns red or if patches of red scaly areas appear on other parts of the body.
