All children differ in their physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. They also differ in the way they learn, play and interact with each other and their environment. Parents, early care and education teachers should recognize and respect these differences, and treat and support each child’s individual needs.

In a quality childcare setting, caregivers have the education, training and experience to recognize the typical stages and milestones that coincide with specific ages. Because they work so closely with the children, caregivers also are in a position to notice potential development issues. Regular discussions with the caregiver will help you monitor your child’s development.
