GAYC Directors Institute - Nurturing Staff As Professionals

Designed specifically for childcare and education directors and administrators, this institute offers professionals the opportunity to explore and discuss state-of-the-art approaches for nurturing and working with staff to jointly improve programs.

Content Descriptions

Nurturing Emerging Skills. Learn how to assess individual and staff needs and identify stages of teacher development. Includes techniques for nurturing emerging skills and professional growth.

Assessing Your Work Environment. Improve your skill in prioritizing and solving problems, beginning with recognizing the difference between symptoms and the real problem. Explore how to create an inviting climate for staff and parents.

Facilitating Teamwork. Share and explore techniques to build a teamwork approach, improve communication and collaboration, and recognize staff efforts.

Letting Go: Directing vs. Coaching. Learn how leadership and supervisory styles affect the work environment. Decide upon a leadership path that fits your style, manages and protects your time, and provides staff with needed resources and support.

Planning and Conducting Self-Directed Staff Meetings. Use participation building and shared decision-making techniques to guide your staff toward taking responsibility for professional and program growth.
