Pulling at an ear as if in pain, crying, fever, and/or drainage from the ear may mean that a child has an ear infection.

Treatment:

• See the child’s health care provider immediately for a diagnosis
• If medication is prescribed, be sure your child takes and finishes it as directed
• Keep your follow-up appointment even if symptoms have gone away
