Your first aid kit should include the following:

• Scissors
• Tweezers
• Gauze pads
• Adhesive tape
• Thermometer
• Syrup of ipecac (to be used only upon the advice of a physician or the poison control center)
• Band-aids, assorted sizes
• Anti-bacterial ointment
• Insect-sting preparation
• An antiseptic cleansing solution
• Triangular bandages
• Rubber gloves
• Cold pack

The first aid kit, together with a first aid instruction manual which must be kept with the kit at all times, should be stored so that it is not accessible to children but is easily accessible to childcare staff.

First aid kits must be in each building of a childcare center and any vehicle used by the center for transportation of children.
