Did you know that each year, over 200,000 children are injured on America's playgrounds? That's one every 2 1/2 minutes. If not used and maintained properly, even the safest playground can cause accidents. Staff supervision and playground rules are very important when you are trying to prevent accidents.

To address the growing concern for playground safety, the National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) was established in 1995. Visit the NPPS website for current information and tips about playground safety: http://www.uni.edu/playground/
