Professionals who work with children are required by law to report suspected neglect or abuse.

“Reasonable suspicion” based on objective evidence is all that is needed to report. Evidence might be firsthand observation or statements made by a parent or child. If you suspect abuse, document your suspicions in writing and follow your center's policy for turning over documentation to a supervisor for reporting.
